Want to Increase Creativity? Listen to Happy Rhymes Music

Everyone must have felt uninspired in improving creativity. In order to get excited again, there are many ways that can be done. One of them is listening to music with a happy rhythm
Simone Ritter, from Radboud University, the Netherlands and Sam Ferguson from the University of Technology in Sydney, Australia, have studied various types of music in one's way of thinking. "People in many contexts use music to help them work," Ferguson said.

The study involved 155 volunteers who were subdivided into five groups. Four of them played music while undergoing tests. While one remaining group is not played music.

The test is designed to measure two types of thinking: divergent thinking, which describes the process of generating new ideas, and convergent thinking, ie how one finds the best solution to a problem.
Ritter and Ferguson say someone will be more creative when listening to music that they think is positive. They will also produce a more unique idea than those who work in silence.

"We also tested other sad, worried and quiet music footage, and did not see this effect. Music with excited rhythm can stimulate to encourage different thinking because it maximizes brain function," Ferguson said.

In line with Ritter and Ferguson, Irma Järvelä from the University of Helsinki in Finland, said the fun music can increase creativity because it triggers the release of dopamine, the brain chemicals involved in fun and satisfaction. "Dopamine also enhances creative thinking and focus to achieve goals," says Järvelä.

In addition, an assistant professor in music therapy program at the University of Miami, Teresa Lesiuk conducted research on the effect of listening to music on work performance.
According to his research, those who listen to music can complete tasks faster and have better ideas than those who do not listen to music at all.

But there are also some types of music that aggravate productivity. Several studies have shown that popular music interferes with the understanding and processing of information.

Based on the results of studies conducted by some experts to prove that it turns out the music can have a positive effect in improving your creativity and work. However, the effect on productivity depends on the situation and the type of music itself.
